The Atyrau Agrarian Technical College named after Unaybay Kushekov is the oldest educational institution in the region, with a history that dates back to the last millennium.
In 1948, due to the increasing needs of the national economy, a zooveterinary technical school was opened in the industrial center of Eskene in the Makata district, preparing zootechnicians and veterinarians.
In 1953, the technical school was relocated to the regional center, the city of Guryev.
In 1954, a part-time department of the technical school was established.
In 1962, it was transformed into the Guryev Agricultural Technical School, and specializations for training mechanics, agronomists, and accountants were introduced.
In 1975, a five-story standard educational building, a four-story dormitory, a two-story cafeteria, garages, and workshops were commissioned.
In 1997, by the decision of the Akim of Atyrau Region (No. 437 dated May 30, 1997), as a result of the merger (optimization) of the Guryev Agricultural Technical School and the Guryev Marine Fisheries Technical School, the Atyrau Agrarian Technical College was created, which became the main educational institution in the region for training in 16 different specialties related to agriculture and fisheries.
In 2004, the college’s sports complex was put into operation.
In 2005, the Atyrau Agrarian Technical College was included in the book “Agrarian Kazakhstan-2005.”
In 2006, a specialization in “Construction and Operation of Buildings and Structures” was opened.
In 2006, the Atyrau Agrarian Technical College was included in the “Encyclopedia of Teachers of Atyrau Region.”
In 2007, the college underwent state accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2007, the college received a Certificate of Compliance with the Quality Management System ST RK ISO 9001-2001 for its work in maintaining and improving quality management processes and implementing innovative teaching methods and tools.
In 2007, a training carpentry workshop for the specialization “Construction and Operation of Buildings and Structures” was put into operation.
In 2009, a new educational building for 600 students was constructed.
In 2009, a specialization in “Computer Engineering and Software” was opened.
In 2010, the administrative building of the college was renovated.
In 2010, the first graduates in the specialization “Construction and Operation of Structures” were produced.
In 2019, by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Atyrau Agrarian Technical College was named after Unaybay Kushekov.
